Sprouting Quinoa
Sprouting Quinoa
Â
Â
This is a really easy method for sprouting quinoa seeds. For all our raw food friends!
Rinse your quinoa well for a few minutes with water to remove the bitter outer.
Put the rinsed quinoa into a container and cover with water preferably a glass container. Make sure there is lots of spare water above the quinoa as they must stay underwater.
After 12 hours (Or Overnight) drain the quinoa of the water and spread it out thinly on a large plate or tray.
At this stage you can eat the slightly crunchy quinoa in a salad or you can continue the process for a properly sprouted version. Â Cover with a cloth to put the quinoa in a dark place.
Re rinse the quinoa seeds every 6 – 8 hours and put them back on the plate/tray.
After about 48 hours you will have a plate of sprouted quinoa. Dry well and store in a glass jar in the fridge.
Sprouted quinoa can be used in salads, sandwiches or in a stir fry (cooks really fast  1 -2 minutes)
Not really sure how long the sprouts will last – only hours in our house. Imagine they will only be ok for a couple of days.
